2001’s <Ruta Binaria> was the first album released by Chilean sound artist Jimmy Pizarro under his INSECTO moniker, published at that time in CD format in a limited print run with a very local distribution. Using only the classic DAW Fruity Loops, in his debut he proposes a sound capsule of abstract, minimalist and contemplative electronics, navigating through textured and crunchy landscapes, thus giving rise to the distinctive brand of the INSECTO sound. After more than 20 years, this year 2024 NOCUEDO Editions is pleased to present <Ruta Binaria(r)+>, an expanded and remastered reissue that comes in cassette tape format in a luxurious limited edition of 50 copies, whose tracklist adds a remix by fellow Chilean SAMUEL VIO and three outtakes tracks from the same era. The artwork has been completely redesigned. The mastering of <Ruta Binaria(r)+> was done by Josh Bonati at BONATI MASTERING NYC in New York (USA).
At the end of the 90's and at the beginning of the 2K era, in a incandescent time of prolific musical innovation worldwide, from the confines of South America, Jimmy Pizarro began his first sonic excursions in the field of the most cerebral experimental electronic music through his moniker INSECTO. Already known his influences by the most brainy and experimental electronics coming from the first world and taking advantage of the intensive use of the already classic DAW Fruity Loops, in 2001 Pizarro released his first album <Ruta Binaria>, work composed of a handful of tracks varnished with abstract soundscapes, intricate rhythmic and contemplative spheres. Today, in 2024, this work is presented in an expanded and remastered reissue, which consists of 4 original tracks plus 1 remix and 3 outtakes tracks from the same period that for some reason were left out of that edition. The sound of < Ruta Binaria (r)+> is clearly refined and modeled to sound at the caliber of their compositions, this thanks to the magnificent mastering work by Josh Bonati. The tracks sound crunchy, neat, defined, balanced, still very fresh, everything in its right sonic dimension. The album opens with 'Se Desvanece el Pulso', a track that moves forward as if it were moving in slow motion, this from a rhythmic sequence of clicks'n cuts mimicked with a deep dub pulse, which flows slowly cutting a blanket of textured pads that spread with warmth in a counterpoint of complex melodies. 'Runs' feels to the Warp style of the time, very evocative and hopeful, moving elegantly in a collage that transitions with delicate synth notes, articulated with a syncopated beat overlaid with an expansive bass pulse, thus taking the trip to points of better perspective. 'Nieve' is dreamy, it is a dreamlike journey, it is a cosmic voyage, it is pure vibe, moving through a melodic and harmonic framework of colorful landscapes, which sequentially sift through a field of deep sensitivity. 'Nieve (Samuel Vio remix)' offers a look just as sensitive as the original, but in a dancefloor key, where also Chilean musician Samuel Vio adds to his version some vocal samples that give a very fresh and trippy tone to the remix. 'Vacío' is a haunting but pleasant odyssey of warm mattresses tucked in a crunchy and stimulating vibe. 'Enroc' is a convoluted exercise of sharp and elastic electronics that permanently wanders between a captivating tension and the extensive use of stylistic artifacts typical of the artist's sonic experimentation. 'Router' moves in depth and with a lofty vantage point, transits with cadence and with breaks within a heady sound, carrying the narrative swiftly and punctuated and then leaving you with a taste of little. To close, 'Less' too responds to a deep language, which advances gradually to enter an exquisite field that balances the synthetic and the organic to finally deliver the beauty of being. <Ruta Binaria (r)+> is experiment, is reencounter, is deep. It vibrates at its own pulse. If you are in tune with the sound aesthetics of AE (Amber era), POLE, the early JAN JELINEK or TOPDOWN DIALECTIC, this release will surely make you synapse.
